Italian-Style Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Ingredients
1 large green cabbage
1 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef)
1 cup cooked rice
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
½ cup tomato sauce
1 egg, beaten
½ tsp dried oregano
½ tsp dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
2 cups marinara sauce
½ cup water
2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Cabbage
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully separate whole cabbage leaves and blanch them in the boiling water for 2–3 minutes until softened. Drain and let cool.
2️⃣ Make the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, tomato sauce, beaten egg, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
3️⃣ Assemble the Rolls
Lay a cabbage leaf flat and place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center. Fold in the sides, then roll it up tightly. Repeat with the remaining leaves and filling.
4️⃣ Brown the Rolls
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the cabbage rolls and sear them lightly on all sides.
5️⃣ Simmer in Sauce
Pour the marinara sauce and water over the cabbage rolls, cover, and let them simmer for 30–40 minutes until tender and fully cooked.
